Minutes of the Bolton Tennis League Committee meeting held at 7pm on Friday, 19th September 2025 at Lostock Tennis Club.

Present: Messrs. Caswell, Pearson, Prince, Taylor & Ms J Holmes

Apologies for absence: Messrs. Al-Chalabi, Cashmore, Maslivec, Nuttall, Saunders, Ms L Cartwright, Ms K Caldwell, Ms S Francis, Ms B Holmes,
Ms Morley & Ms Perry.

Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.

Matters Arising: It was remarked that we had mentioned discussing the Cecil Cup handicaps. It was also noted that we did not appear to have a record of the 2024 result in the archive.

Correspondence: An email from Chorley had been received thanking us for keeping the League running so well.

Winter League: This starts on Friday at David Lloyd.

Tournament: A meeting has been arranged for next Monday.

Presentation Evening: Any comments as the venue is holding Friday the 11th and 18th as provisional pending us wanting to rehold the presentation at Mercure again? Do we want different food next year or happy with the meat and potato pie again? Comments on the DJ? Was everything ok can I feed back to the DJ company?
It was remarked that the venue was very good. One said that the meat and potato pie was the best they had had at any previous venue. We would go with that again and chose the 11th as the best date. The disco, it was felt, could have catered a bit more for the dancing of the more mature end of the age spectrum. During the presentation, it was felt that maybe the volume was not high enough reaching the raised floor level, as there seemed to be a lot of talking from that direction..
Financially, we do not need a raffle to raise money, but we would discuss again in the new year.

Treasurer: All payments are up to date as are all receipts with the exception of one club for payment of presentation night tickets. But this is with their finance team for paying. Remaining tasks for the year are to chase up the League sponsorship invoice, invoice for the player registrations in the season along with any fines for clubs, Pay the honoraria.

Proposed Rule Changes: See separate sheet/link.

Dunlop: We would feed back the fact we had had complaints from some clubs that the balls were not the same as the previous season. Some clubs felt that they fluffed up far too soon.

AOB: We need to consider a reply re the Lostock – Tyldesley issue. This would have to await the next meeting when hopefully the Mixed Match Secretary would be present.

Date and Time of Next Meeting: This would be Wednesday October 8th or 15th 7pm at Lostock if free. If not, St Margaret’s Church.
