Minutes of the Bolton Tennis League Committee meeting held at 7pm, on Friday, 8 May at Lostock Tennis Club.

Present: Messrs. Al-Chalabi, Cashmore, Caswell, Maslivec, Pearson,  Saunders, Taylor, Ms L Cartwright, S Francis, Ms J Holmes.

Apologies for absence: Messrs. Prince, Nuttall, Ms K Caldwell, Ms B Holmes, Ms Morley, Ms Perry & Mrs Browne.

Minutes of the last meeting: These had been circulated and were agreed.

Matters Arising: None.

General Secretary: The collection of handbooks went OK, but I was still left with quite a few. These are now in the kitchen of Meadow Hill. It would appear that some clubs repeatedly do not collect and must manage quite well without them. It may be an idea to ask those clubs next year so we can cut down on wastage.
It was asked if anyone was using Google Sheets. It was decided to keep them one more season before deleting.

League Reports:

Men’s: Nothing special. Just the usual list of unregistered players. One team had a pair short. One card showed two blanks for players. It was suggested to include a news item reminding that players' names can be typed in if they don’t auto-fill as registered.

Mixed: Fine so far – just 3 unregistered players.

Ladies: Fine so far. One team had to borrow a player with sets lost to love.

Juniors: A few had put first names on cards without surnames. There were quite a few unregistered players. We need to reinforce the newsletter item that David Lloyd Chorley are playing at David Lloyd Bolton.

Treasurer: We just need the player fees from the two David Lloyd clubs.

Winter League: Nothing to report.

Tournament: We had a meeting to look at the tournament website that Paul Cashmore has developed. It is easy to use, and we are grateful for his input. Now we are keen to find sponsors who will get an online presence; please get in touch with Lesley Jackson or Margot Mather for further details. Tournament entries open on 25th May. I intend to email last year's competitors to remind them and provide a link to the tournament website from which they can go straight to the LTA entry page. 
The caterer will remain the same. The new laptop is here. The handicapping meeting is on Thursday, July 2nd at Lostock. All are welcome.
Presentation Evening: The Men’s Match Secretary will be absent re announcing the winners. We still need a presenter.

Dunlop: The balls have arrived.

LTA Network: Grants are available. Clubs should have received information on this if they want to apply

AOB: An algorithm has been produced by Paul Cashmore to work out Cecil Cup handicaps. If there’s anything wrong, please let him know. An item can be put in the newsletter
