Newsletter 15; 9 August 2026

The last two weeks are here: Players are expected to have already played at least once for their club in that competition (three times in Division 1 for Men's and Mixed). So, please be careful with your player selections. If you play an ineligible player and lose, I don't suppose anyone is that bothered, but playing an ineligible player and winning will require amended scores.

The online checker should help with this.

In the bottom team only, if the above cannot be met, you can inform the Match Secretary of the name (s) of the player (s) confirming that the player (s) is/are of no higher standard than the player (s) being replaced. Results should bare this out. Contact the Match Secretary if you are unsure re eligibility. There should be no other reason to contact the Match Secretary.

Please remember also, that in order to field a team, you are allowed to play ineligible players providing there are declared as such. This avoids a fine. However, their sets will be recorded as lost 6-0, if not by you, then by the Match Secretary.

Presentation Evening: Number of Ticket recorded so far 0; Number of Vegetarian/other requirement dishes requested received so far = 0

Nominations for the Crystal Award have been received from: Bradshaw, Eagley, Elton Vale, Hawkshaw & Lostock.

Nominations for the Wadsworth award have been received from: Bradshaw & Hawkshaw.

Remember, your club can't win it unless you have voted.

Last two weeks and bad light:Teams must, if playing at a two court match with no floodlights get at least one pair there early and get play started for 6.15pm. Keep knock-ups to a minimum and get on with the match.

Extra Trophies for Presentation Night: You do this direct with the Trophy shop, Greenhalgh & Son or Readey's and pay for them. Details are in the handbook adverts. Readey's - Winners and runners up in the Junior League & Cecil Cup; Greenhalgh & Son - everything else.
